Lord's
Acre
is the day each year that
we open wide the doors of our church home to the entire community
and invite them in to the biggest Neighborhood Festival
ever!
That's
right ... everyone within the sound of the
music and laughter and within the smell of
barbeque and sausage, is invited to join
the community of Arlington Heights United
Methodist Church as we celebrate God's
goodness. It is said that in days of
old, the rural communities had a festival
in the Fall when they donated an acres'
worth of produce and proceeds to the
church and God's work. Hence the
name "Lord's Acre".
Our
festival has grown over the years to
include the entire neighborhood because of
the overflow of blessings and
goodness. We just want to share!
A
portion of the proceeds (50%) goes to mission
projects at home and around the world,
with the remaining funds to the Trustees
for a special project around our own
facility - additional accent and
security lighting to the outside of our
building, for example.
A
typical Lord's Acre Neighborhood Festival
